Christmas 2010

Christmas in the McClure household was a great one this year. Even though we were missing our family, we had a nice quiet celebration at home.

Christmas Eve I was off work...Yay! Nathan took two weeks off work (thanks to comp time for working too many 100 hour weeks to count) so that he could work on Tait's Playroom. We found some great paintings and decided to go with a "Transportation" theme. Nathan decided to paint the entire room blue and a mural on two of the walls. It is looking fantastic so far!!

I made the mistake of running around to get some last minute stocking stuffers and food for Christmas Day. Nathan instead had the right idea and stayed home playing with Taitor Tot. That evening we went to Church service. I was nervous about taking Tait into the chapel but I was also excited for him to see his first Christmas service. We sat in the very back row...just in case. When the program started the lights were turned low and it was so quiet you could hear a pin drop...right when Tait clapped his hands and yelled "YAY!!". The few rows around us laughed and the gentleman sitting in front of Tait gave him a highfive. I think it is safe to say Tait was excited too. For the beginning of the service his eyes were glued to the stage...unfortunately it didn't last too long.

Later in the service the Pastor asked all of the children to come up to the stage so he could read The Christmas Story about Joseph and Mary. Nathan took Tait to the stage since I was wearing a dress and couldn't sit like a lady. However, when Tait got to the stage he turned around and headed right back to his seat. Nathan looked at me across the church, shrugged and followed him back. Silly boy!

Tait was eating M&Ms (to keep him quiet) as they read the story. He had gotten chocolate on Nathan's sweater so I wiped it off his shoulder with a baby wipe. Tait saw me and wanted to wipe our shoulders with the wipe. As I started to relax, Tait did something that still puts me in stiches. He threw the baby wipe on the shoulder of one of the people in front of us! Nathan looked at me with wide eyes and instantly grabbed the wipe before the gentleman noticed. I was crying as I tried to hold in the laughter! It was hilarious.

Christmas morning we woke up Tait to come out and see what Santa had left him...he did not want to get out of our bed (after crawling in bed with us at 5am) so we had to entice him. Finally, he came out...

We asked him to turn on the Christmas lights. He turned on the big tree's lights...
But when he went to turn on the little tree's lights there was something different. Santa had left something for Tait! Cars!!!!!It is safe to say he was ecstatic for the cars. Opening presents was a bit more involved...I will post those later, have to run back to the office now. I hope everyone had a great Christmas.

Tait counting

it didn't save on the last post the right way, so here is the video again.

Halloween 2010

Well, this Halloween has not turned out like I expect it to. I was so excited for Tait to trick-or-treat at the home office this week. Everyone at work decorated and a good portion dressed up. Everyone was in the best mood and ready for the kids to come through.

Nathan had been fighting illness all week and stayed home a couple of days. Today he decided to go the doctor because he wasn't feeling well. I felt awful today, but I held on at work because I didn't want to be a bad mom and keep Tait home from the festivities.

At 2pm I went to pick up Tait. I thought it best to get him early and be able to get through before the big crowd so that I could go home early (remember I was feeling awful). I picked Tait up at daycare and came home to change him into his costume. He has an adorable chick oufit. I put him in a onesie and tights and put him in the car. I figured I would put his oufit on when we got to the HO so that his car seat fit appropriately.

I pulled out of the neighborhood and Nathan called me to see where his medicine was. I had left it in my front seat, so I turned around to take it to him. Right when I was rounding the bend on my street and about to pull into my drive way, it happened. Tait threw up all over himself. :(

I am so bummed that he missed the trick-or-treating this year. This year he would have had much more fun than last year, especially since he couldn't eat the candy last year. However, we knew the sickness would hit him eventually...I just didn't think it could have been at a worse time!

Tait and I cuddled on the couch tonight and he ended up falling asleep in my lap. Times like this make me thank the Lord for having such a sweet little boy, especially since he gave me like 100 kisses tonight!!!!

I did get a fun video since I don't have any pictures in his costume. He knows all of his animal sounds...even obscure animals like a hyena (laughing). He can also name several items out of his picture books; things like tractors, balls, apples, balls, juice cups, balls...get the reoccurring theme? ha ha. Therefore I am trying hard to teach him his numbers. I have been trying for awhile now and he just picks up #2.
Watch for yourself!

Hope everyone's Halloween turns out better than ours...though my cuddling on the couch tonight with the cutest boy in the world made it turn out better than I could have ever planned.

Fall is finally here...and it is beautiful!

I can't help but get a little sentimental, my baby is only a short 4 months from being two years old. Two Years Old!!! That is no longer a baby, that is officially a little boy. I look at him everyday and see what a sweet and funny little boy he is growing into.

He is always one to let you know exactly what he wants, and will throw a fit if he doesn't get his way! ha ha. I am still working on letting him know that he got that strong will from his Momma and I will always stick to my guns too! Lord...help me when we enter teenage years. ha ha

It is hard to imagine that one year ago, my little boy was just a chunky baby...
A chunky baby with the funniest faces (this picture cracks me up)...And now? Now he was demanding us to follow him in the corn maze and wanting to show us the way. I look at him now and catch myself in a strange internal battle. I love the young man he is turning into, but I miss my little baby. All I know, is that I wouldn't trade this f
or the world!!
I love you Tait!
Love Momma

Daddy and Tait's new game

Daddy and I have a new game. It is so much fun!!

1. I bring him a ball (soft toys work well also)...

2. I show him where to throw it...3. Daddy throws the ball and we watch it fly....up, up, up into the air and in the window to the exercise room!!!

I LOVE this game. Mom...not so much!

Happy Half-Birthday, Tait!!!

That is right, my little man is 18 months old today. That is a year-and-a-half. That is a little boy and not a baby! Can you tell I am a little sad?

This was my little man last year....
And here he is now (yes, this is not a picture of today, it is a couple of weeks ago. But you get the point)...
Today to celebrate, I took Tait and his class some cupcakes. Maybe I am going overboard for a half birthday, but he is growing so quickly!
I love you Tait. Happy Half-Birthday!!

Been Awhile...

So it has been awhile since my last post. Things here are good, just really busy. Nathan has been working a ton of hours to get this project in and I have been up to my eyeballs in homework. Remind me why I went back to get my MBA with a child under 2 years old?!?!? It will be worth it in the long run. I am not quite half way through, but I am at least getting into the swing of things.

Trouble has started here with our little one. He is 18 months (tomorrow) and knows how to...
1. Open the door
2. Unlock the door
3. Open the dishwasher

There are so many other things he is doing. We took him for his 18 month check up a week and half ago.
He is 31 inches tall (18th percentile)
He is 22.5 lbs (11th percentile for weight, so the Carnation instant breakfast with his morning and bedtime milk cups have been working)

My little guy is just that...a little guy. However, he is the sweetest and cutest little guy I have ever met. I love that boy!!

His new thing is to eat a popsicle every night after dinner. We will take Dixie out front and he will run to the freezer in the garage and try and open the door. When I pull out a popsicle, he runs to sit on the driveway and waits. I actually let him eat the entire thing by himself and twice have given him a second to eat. He LOVES them!! Here are some pictures to prove it...

Father's Day 2010

Last week Nathan had to go out of town for work. It was a miserable week. Tait and I missed him so much. Finally, on Saturday he was headed home. Tait and I went to a local park with his buddy Holden. Holden is two days older than Tait, not that we didn't try our hardest to get Tait to have the same birthday. He was a Valentine's baby and Nathan and I thought that would be so cool for Tait to have a birthday on Valentine's day. However, Tait is a stubborn boy and wants his day all to himself. LOL!
Tait LOVED the swing. He swung forever!! He laughed and giggled and had a jolly old time. When I took Tait off of the swing so Holden could have a turn, he threw a fit! He sat down on the ground and wailed. The older girl next to me was taken off the swing by her mother so Tait could swing some more. Even when he got his way he pouted and acted like he wasn't happy. See the next picture for proof!

Later that night Tait fell asleep, hard. He was sitting in his highchair snoozing. I took him out and laid him on the floor. This is how he got comfortable. Yes, that is a bear skin rug you see in the picture. I ordered it off the internet for some baby pictures when he was only a couple of months old last June. The pictures are some of my absolute favorite ones too!

Sadly, I don't have any pictures of Nathan and Tait this Father's day. Here is a picture from last year when my baby was just a teeny taitor tot! He is such a doll. I am lucky to have him and his father in my life and get to spend every day with them. I love my boys more than words could say! MUAH!

Memorial Day Post Continued....

Can you believe this was little man only a year ago?!?!?!

Memorial Day Weekend 2010

Memorial Day Weekend this year has been a blast, and I still have one more day to enjoy. Nathan and I had a small BBQ yesterday with our good friends The Martinez family, Crystal and a new friend Elly. All day Saturday, Nathan stayed home so that he could smoke an amazing briquet. It was so delicious. So, Tait and I stayed home with him and enjoyed the outdoors. We went to the pool for a bit, which is why Tait is in his swimsuit. This boy loves the outdoors and wants to go play every day. Thank God for SPF 50!!

First things first...this boy NEEDED another haircut. It is funny when I hear Donnetta (the lady who cuts his hair) remark each time about how many haircuts he has had. He is now had number 9 or 10...I lose track. I decided to go SHORT so I don't have to take him every 2-3 months. He is so cute with this haircut, he looks like a miniature version of his daddy.
One of Tait's favorite things is to play in the water when Nathan is watering his flowers. Tait will now go into the closet in the garage, pull out the watercan and take it to Nathan to fill up with water. Yesterday we just decided to play with the water can and he could wash his hands in it. He loved it. Until....
...Nathan sprayed the water over his head. Laughter ensued (from Nathan and I, not Tait!).This face just cracks me up!!! He is so funny!!

In the backyard Tait is a handful. Yesterday we had to work hard to keep him away from the hot grill. He was happily getting into EVERYTHING else! He went over to this hummingbird feeder and we kept telling him to not touch it. The food in it is so sticky and we don't want him to break it or empty it out. He looked at me in the eyes, grinned and hugged the feeder. He is such a manipulator...he thinks that if he gives you or someone a hug, you can't be mad at him anymore. He is such a sweet boy and give everyone hugs and kisses, but I am beginning to think he is just playing us!
He also loves the birdhouses we have in the backyard. This one doesn't have seed in it, we keep that one up high in the tree. However, Tait will try and crawl under it and eat the seed that the birds knock out. I don't know why he does this...I promise I feed him. In fact, the boy ate and ENTIRE clamshell of blueberries yesterday by himself!! He ate another half container today. I do think this boy is going to turn into a blueberry, but he LOVES fruit and vegetables. The dr told us last week at his 15 month appointment that we needed to get his weight up (he is in the 5th percentile for weight and the 15th for height) but I feed him constantly...he is just picky. He likes fruit, veggies, chicken and LOVES yogurt. I tried giving him cereal yesterday and he wouldn't touch it. He kept doing the sign for more...then when he really wanted blueberries he SAID the word "More". Today at Walmart we passed a feature of blueberries and he said "Bue-Bue-Bue-Ball" (his name for blueberries...quite a good name considering they really are just blue balls).
We also bought him a lawn mower. This ones blows bubbles and he loves is. Trouble is we couldn't get it to really blow many bubbles, then Tait decided to "look under the hood" and knocked the bubbles over and the cap fell off. I just took the bubbles off and he happily pushes the lawn mower around the yard. How funny will he think the picture below is when he is 16 and complaining about mowing the yard? I will tell him how he used to love to do it! (Love me some momma blackmail!)
Here is a really good picture of his haircut. He is such a ham and I love this little boy more than words could say.
I hope all of you are having a great Memorial Day. Take a second and say a prayer for all of our soldiers who are fighting for us, have fought for us or are preparing to do so someday. My big brother is over there now and I say a prayer for him every night. I am counting the days until he can come home safe and sound. Love you Tim and we are thinking about you!

Just for fun...

Just for fun, here is Tait on Mother's day last year....

Mother's Day 2010

Mother's day this year started off great! It is my second one with Tait, but he is much more active this year than he was last year at 3 months. He is also much more vocal and lets us know when he is not happy. He made sure to let me know he was not happy when I was wishing my mother a "Happy Mother's Day" and ended up taking a nap because of it. For some reason, Tait will not just lie down when he is tired. He fusses until I put him in bed and then falls asleep in under a minute. I guess he is just afraid he is going to miss the action if he stops.

Nathan started the morning letting me sleep in (and I woke up at 6:30am and couldn't sleep any longer. I guess Tait has trained me). Nathan and Tait went to Starbucks and got me a latte and some flowers. Then, Nathan came home and made me blueberry pancakes. They were yummy!

Tait took a bath later and enjoyed some bubbles!
I thought he looked so cute in this picture. A little Santa Claus in May. ha ha
Later Tait got into the guest bathroom and pulled a roll of toilete paper out. He tore all of the sheets off of the roll and Frank was fast behind eating the pieces of evidence. Tait didn't get away with it...he took the empty roll proudly to me to show me what he had done.
I bought Tait some cute golf clubs at Walmart the other day. He has been hitting things with them, so I thought we had better show him the right way to use them. (Please excuse the pictures. I was using my new flash and I am going to have to find out how to use it. It either blurs the background or causes the picture to be too bright. If you have any tips, I would welcome them. I have a Cannon). The picture below cracks me up. It is like he knows to carry the club on his shoulder after a shot. I guess men are born with the golf gene!
Below is Nathan teaching Tait how to use the club to hit the balls. He screamed after he missed the ball and threw a fit. (he has MY temper, Lord help us all)

After he threw a fit, Nathan started rubbing his back with the golf club. He was over the bad mood then...again, he IS my son!
I hope all of you guys had a wonderful Mother's Day and to all of my friends still waiting for their little ones, I am praying things will work out and hoping you get to enjoy a little one soon.

A Year Makes a Difference

I am sitting at my computer procrastinating studying for the test I have Thursday night. Remind me why I went back for my MBA?!?! Actually, I love class. It is the homework that I hate. Anyway, I was sitting here trying to find anything else in the world to do when I started "blogstalking". It is my not-so-secret obsession (well, not now anyway) that I tend to read blogs to find out what everyone else is doing. My life is so boring I have to dream others have exciting ones I can read about.

I noticed several blog people are having babies. I also know a few people at work who have little ones or are about to have little ones. It makes me a bit sad and I think back to when my Tait was just a wee little Taitor Tot. :( For fun I went and looked at iPhoto to see what he looked like a year ago...so cute, and so needing a haircut. People wonder why I keep his hair so short, I am just tired of cutting it. 14 months and he has had 8-9 haircuts, that is a bit ridiculous! I do love his long hair though...maybe I will grow it out!

Here is a picture for you to see how bitty he was last year.

I miss those sweet cheeks. He has slimmed down so much in the past couple of months. I think it is because he is a ball of energy. He jumps off of the couch, climbs on whatever he can find. I think he is trying to give his mother a heart attack.

Here is a picture from today. It is on my phone, so don't expect it to be too good of quality.
This morning he wanted to hold his balls (which he is obsessed with) while he sat in his car seat. If you look closely he has a baseball (baybaa as he says) and a BIG orange ball. He held the balls all the way to school in the backseat. He is the silliest thing!
I have been watching two teeth of Tait's that have been trying to come in for months. They are both the first molars on the top. He has been in a ton of pain and I feel so bad for him. Last night he had a bottom front tooth (he already has the middle two) pop up out of nowhere. Now my little man officially has 7 teeth! He is a bit behind some of the other kids in his class, but he is smart as a whip so I am not too concerned about him being slow to grow teeth.

We have been going on nightly walks or bike rides with Tait. I just downloaded some pictures off of my camera of how he usually comes home at the end of the ride.
So Sweet...
I really can't imagine our lives without this sweet boy! Here is one more picture to finish my blog that makes me smile...

Basketball

Tait and I decided to do Race for the Cure on Saturday. I was super excited. I even made Tait a shirt to wear since the smallest shirt I could buy was 2T. I knew it would just be Tait and I since Nathan had to work Friday night. I had a perfect day planned out in my head. First we would go to Starbucks, then do the walk, then shop the mall and look at all of the fun festivities they had planned. The day did not work out that way at all.

When we woke it was raining and dreary outside.
I was hopeful that the rain would let up, so I got Tait and I ready to head to the race. We dropped by Starbucks at first for coffee (a must) for me and a muffin (another must) for him. He was in a super good mood! After about 20 minutes, I realized the race was not in our cards.

We ran into our friend Fred at Starbucks and talked for awhile. I knew I couldn't go home because Tait would wake up Nathan and we couldn't go play outside. The funniest thing was that when I was getting ready to pack up and leave, I gave Tait the keys. He hightailed it for the door and turned to wave bye. This is super funny because Tait rarely waves. I thought it was because he hadn't figured it out yet, I guess he just doesn't wave all that much unless he has a reason.

After chasing down Tait and getting him in the car, we drove to the race. It had already started but I saw a bunch of tents set up and knew they were doing something special. They were also supposed to have some events going on, so I wanted to check them out. I went to the trunk to get the stroller and decided I just couldn't getTait out in the rain. I had no idea what I could do to kill time with a 14 month old in the rain. Last minute I decided to head to the mall in Fayetteville which is an inside mall. By the time I got there it was downpouring and I had to pee...rain or not!

All in all it was a fun day and Tait looked super cute in his Race for the Cure shirt.

Today Tait woke up with a HUGE scratch on his head. I am not sure if it was his nails or if he scratched it on a toy. When we got home from school today, he had a gift from his Pappy and Bunny. A Texas Tech Basketball! I didn't show it to him until after dinner, because I knew all he would want to do is play with it!! He loved it!
In fact he loved it so much, he went to bed with the basketball. When I left his room he was holding it, but by the time I got my phone to take a picture of the monitor he had fallen asleep. Little man had such a big day and such a wonderful week. Seeing the picture below warms my heart!
Well, that is all for now. Hope everyone is having a fabulous day!

Tait's First Trip to McDonald's

Yesterday we decided to take Tait for his first trip to McDonald's. On one hand, I couldn't believe it took us 14 months...but on the other, this was the first time I have been to McDonald's in over 5 years. We are much more of a Chick-fil-a family!

First of all, I was shocked that a McDonald's doesn't have high chairs! I mean, come on! This place is designed all around children and you don't even have a place a little one can sit safely. Luckily, Nathan bought this bag that turns into a booster seat the other day at Target. We leave it in the back of his car and it has come in handy several times. I still am shocked that any fast food restaurant today doesn't offer a high chair or booster seat. I think mothers need to throw a fit at these places! A 14 month old sitting on your lap is NO
T an ideal situation for a restaurant.

I also was unimpressed with their Caesar Salad. The dressing said it was Newman's Own...but it did NOT taste like the dressing I have at home. Thankfully they had a yogurt parfait and that was delicious. Nathan said of course it was...he said it was full of sugar. I am hoping that is not true. Tait also only picked at his food. Half could have been because he hasn't been feeling that great (another ear infection) and part could have been that the chicken was in no way as good as Chick-fil-a.

Tait did have a blast and really enjoyed the toy that came with his happy meal. I do have to say I was impressed by the toy. It was very cut
e and I was surprised at it being a freebie. It was a dragon that spit flames. It was to promote the new movie out in theaters...I guess I will have to wait for video on that one!

We had blast and can't wait for our next "new" trip to take Tait on.
